Lamai Beach is the second most popular beach on the island. It was once more developed than Chaweng but over the last ten years has fallen way behind. For some people this means that Lamai has retained much of its old charm, for others it is of date, unsophisitself is out scruffy and dictated. The beach around for kilometers long and usually far less crowded than Chaweng, but just as well looked after and the sea is deeper and clearer. At the southern and many large boulders make interesting rock formations and pools including the famous grandfather and grandmother rocks.
